About Our Designers: Truvelle

In 2013, Gaby Bayona took the Vancouver bridal industry by a storm with the launch of her unconventional Truvelle collection. Since then, Gaby Bayona has created four bridal collections and just this year, she has expanded her line to include social attire. Truvelle also collaborates with four different designers to make headpieces, jewelry and intimates.

Much like her wedding gown collection, Gaby Bayona got her start in the bridal industry in an unconventional way. Bayona’s mother was a seamstress and she brought Gaby to work with her, this is where she learned her passion for design. At 18, Gaby was creating prom dresses using blush, ivory and gold. The dresses were receiving a greater response from brides than from high school students.  This is when she realized that she could bring something innovative and fresh to the bridal industry.

About Our Designers: Theia

Similar to our other designers, the creative director behind Theia was not originally interested in designing wedding gowns. Don O’neill was born in a small village west of Ireland. He was originally working as a chef until he earned a full tuition scholarship to the Barbara Bourke College of Fashion and Design. He later worked in Paris for couture designer, Christian Lacroix and then he worked in New York for Carmen Marc Valvo for ten years. Next, he created the largely successful eveningwear collection, Badgley Mischka Platinum label for Badgley Micschka.

In fall 2009, Don O’Neill debuted his original collection, Theia. The collection was inspired by the Greek Goddess, Theia, and is meant to bring out the inner goddess in every woman. The brand primarily sells wedding gowns in addition to evening gowns, cocktail dresses and bridesmaid dresses.

Theia's elegant gowns have been worn by celebrities like Emmy Rossum, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.  The collection has been the subject of praise by Vogue, The New York Times and InStyle. Theia is sold at Nemann Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and many specialty stores, including Juno!

About Our Designers: Daughters of Simone

Daughters of Simone (DOS) is another one of our many bold and brilliant designers coming to Juno in February. Similar to Alyssa Kristin, DOS felt as though the free-spirited bride was not being represented in terms of wedding dresses. Ashley and Brittany Castanos are the sisters behind this Bohemian label. The sisters, who were raised by a carpenter father and an abstract artist mother, always had an unorthodox vision of beauty.

Daughters of Simone began when Brittany Castanos questioned her lack of connection to the commercial wedding industry. Inspired by her mother’s own 1970’s off-the-shoulder wedding dress, Brittany taught herself the skills to redesign old dresses she found at local thrift stores. As demand started growing, she asked her younger sister to help out. Ashley, who was a graduate student at the time, began hosting bridal fittings out of her apartment in San Francisco.

What started as a few redesigned, vintage gowns and a personal vision to inspire the tenacious women of the world, turned into a brand that offers four inspired collections. We are so excited to offer gowns from these inspiring women starting February 25!

In case you were wondering who Simone is:

“The name was inspired by the philosopher Simone De Beauvoir. A woman who did her own thing, took names, and always left a mark during a time when that just wasn’t cool for women to do. She is the heart and soul of DOS and the label strives to sprinkle her in everything they do,” –Daughters of Simone

About Our Designers: Alyssa Kristin

While shopping for a wedding dress in 2013, Alyssa Kahle (Kristin), was frustrated by a lack of selection. She wanted something timeless and chic that made her feel beautiful and confident. Feeling that her own interests were not represented, she decided to design her own dress.

Taking an interest in sewing and fashion at the age of four, it made sense for Kahle to take on designing her own dress. At the age of nine, Alyssa Kahle had even written “create my own wedding dress” on her bucket list. In July 2013, she made this goal a reality by walking down the aisle at her own wedding in her Alessandra design.

Alyssa Kahle attended the University of Wisconsin. She originally intended to study Textile and Apparel Design, however, she later decided to switch to Finance. After college, she began a career as a public accountant, pushing her passion for design to the side. It wasn’t until searching for the perfect wedding dress that this passion resurfaced and the Alyssa Kristin Bridal brand was created.

Alyssa Kristin Bridal Collection includes bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and bridal accessories. All garments are designed and created in Chicago. The designs are chic and timeless with a distinctive touch for the modern, confident bride. Kahle intends for these dresses to ensure a happy bride who feels like her most beautiful self in her dress.

Juno Bridal is excited to be the first boutique to offer the Alyssa Kristin collection in Missouri. This designer and more will be coming to our store February 25!
